Well, here we are. Sorry about the long wait. I finished off my time working with mixed emotions. I was ready to move on, but really sad to leave the people I had met. The kids were sad to see me go and we had fun together the last day or so playing some games and reviewing.
My co-workers had a supper for me on the roof of one of the apartments. With the Korean and co-teachers, we went out for duc-galbi (chicken in spicy sauce) and nori-bonging (singing room). It was a really enjoyable night.
I had a week filled with saying goodbye to all my friends and the rest of the time was spent packing. I finished work on the Monday, and on Tuesday Steph, Katie and I went to Jeju Island, like Korea's Hawaii. It took about an hour to fly there. We got there late at night in the pouring rain, and our umbrella's kept flopping out. We had to find a bus from which the office of the place we rented a car from was in. We got to our resort at about 10pm that night.
This first picture is of the Ocean we went swimming in. It was so amazingly clear and salty. This was the first time I have ever been swimming in an ocean. Did I say it was amazing? Let me repeat it? It was AMAZING!!!
Here is Steph and I eating Korean food. The big dish in the middle in pan-jai. It is fried egg with things like spring onion and squid and other things in it. It is so delicious!! We also ate bi-bim-bop (rice with veggies and spicy sauce) and the bowl of noodles. The rest of the food is side dishes that come free with the food.
Here is a picture of the lava coast on the ocean. We climbed these to get to the edge. Never climb lava rock in crock flip-flops!! It was an amazing experience. The part where we were was getting sprayed by the time we got back to safe land, so we got off just in time.
Here in the bottom right corner, you can see a piece of the black sand beach that is caused because of the volcanoes! It was so beautiful. We spent quite some time just sitting here and enjoying the peaceful view.
This is Jeju's famous black pig BBQ that Katie is cooking? What are black pigs? Well, if you get queasy about weird food, skip to the next part. These are picks that eat poo from behind toilets and people then eat the pig. Most people eat the layer close to the skin, so you sometimes get hair in it still, we only saw one hair before we cooked it, but there was a thick layer of skin on the meat that we were not used to. It wasn't so bad, but we enjoyed the grilled kimchi even more.
