Well, it is a Saturday afternoon and I am finally at home. This is the second Saturday that I have spent at home, by myself, in who knows how long. Yep. Hurting an ankle does this to you.
Let me start at the beginning. Two Sundays ago (tomorrow it will be three) I was playing basketball after church and Bible study, like I normally do, and I hurt my ankle. Two of the foreign guys and two Korean guys took me to the hospital where I got ex rays and a soft cast. Anyway, to make a long story short, after many ex ray's and doctor appointments, it turns out that my ankle ligaments (left foot) are severely damaged. I have a cast on and still use crutches, though I hope this week I can start walking on it. The swelling is taking a long time to go down because I have still been at work for 9-10 hours because they can't "find a replacement". Also, if you miss more then 10 classes, they start taking out of your pay. So, it has been interesting to move around school with crutches and keep my foot up as much as possible. The kids love to help and love hopping along behind me whenever they can:)
I take a taxi some days to school (costs about $2) and one time, on the way home, I had it stop at a mart close to my house so I could by some food. As I was leaving and crossing the street I had to pass two high school age girls who started hopping on one foot. I could not help laughing, and think I might of offended them, because I hadn't passed them yet. But, that is what happens whenever I pass a kid:)
It is hard to believe though, that I only have eight weeks left. My friends Amy and Kyle just left today to go back to Canada, and that made it more real to me. When you have an attitude of living a long time in a place, it is certainly different then just a short time.
I would not trade this year for anything, though it has def. been a hard year, and I would prefer not to have a damaged ankle.
Well, that has been all that is up with me for the last few weeks. I hope to see a few more things in Korea before I leave, and the list keeps getting longer. But, my friend and I plan to go to Jeju Island after we are finished working and before we leave the country, so that is something to look forward to.
Hope you are all doing well. Sorry about the big delay in writing!!! Lots of love
