Midnight Madness

Well I should be doing work right now, but I don't feel like it so I'm here!

It has been quite a while since I have written. The month of October went pretty well. I worked less hours and did not have to get up unit 8:30am. I worked usually from 11am until 8pm. There were those long 12 or 13 hour days again, but I felt like a normal human being.

What did I do in the month of October?

Well, we had a Canadian Thanksgiving at my church. It was really good and some of the people from my work came, so that was a blessing. After the meal we took a walk in Olympic Park, a huge, and I mean huge, beautiful park near my house and church. What a beautiful day. The temperature was perfect! We also got to play some basketball because a lady let us borrow her ball for a while.

I also visited Itaewan this month. It is a place in Seoul that is geared for foreigners. It has tons of clothing stores and restaurants. Pretty much everybody speaks English there. I honestly thought I was in Canada walking there....so many different people. Nobody looked similar! I bought some jeans there so that was exciting to find, but if they shrink in length, I'm in big trouble. Who knew people could be so short:)

At school this month we took the kindy kids to an Amusement park outside of Seoul. It took about an hour to get there but the kids were really good. It was gorgeous there. It is an outside park that is open all year and it is built into a valley! Wow! It was just so amazing. The trees were hinting of the beautiful fall colors to come and there was so many different vegetation, I was just awed. The kids did really well, and it was interesting to see them react to the different events. We went on a safari and I am pretty sure I was more excited then they were. It was also sad because of how the animals were treated, but I have never been that close to tigers, lions, giraffes and bears before. It really reminded me of driving through the buffalo reserve (?) with Partners and Pals, but there the animals were even closer and there were more of them!

One weekend this month I also went to visit Jennell. It was a beautiful day. We walked around a park near her house. Fall in Korea is AMAZING! It is sensory overload. So beautiful. I will post a picture of a tree we saw. We just spent the day together and had a really relaxing time. That is the best way to spend a day I think, minus the fact that we did not read.

This past weekend we had a Prov get together at Starbucks, the only one in the world that does not have an English sign:) It was really nice to get together with some of the people I haven't seen in awhile. Made me really miss the Prov community, the care people there felt for you, and the whole atmosphere.

Sunday I went to Jennell's church. I really enjoyed it. The sermon was phenomenal and I felt really blessed and refreshed. After church I received a call from my supervisor. A new teacher here (three weeks) was having panic attacks so they wanted me to come over. I did not end up going till later...let me tell you the story.

I was talking to Sara, my sister, on Skype. Actually, we just finished listening to her church's sermon on the radio (she was home with a sick kid) and my supervisor asked me to come over to the teacher's house. So I went, not knowing what to do. We made some small talk, and Sara phoned me and said she really felt God telling her this girl needed to face herself and see who really loved her. So Sara told me I had to tell her that. So that's what I had to do. Man. Wasn't expecting anything to happen. God really did some amazing things. My boss and supervisor were there looking on and were witnessed to, the girl came face to face with who she was and her need for God. I learned a lot of things I did not want to know and wished I had a lot more training than I had. I really finally realized one of the reasons why God had me be an RA in collage...He prepared me for this. Anyhow, this teacher is leaving tomorrow so for the next month we will be working overtime again, but, as my Dad says, I need the money because of how bad the exchange is right now:) Haha! If you think about it, please pray that my Boss and supervisor will come to know God and that this teacher will see God's love in her!

God gives us strength when we need it and I have learned so much from Him here.

I have, no, I am learning about, authority and how to listen and obey it, what it means in different contexts and especially with God. I am just so amazed at how He really gives the strength when you need it most! So it has been eventful and will be busy here as we wrap up this month with report cards and testing, but I am looking forward to a new month and seeing what happens there. I can't get bored because my longest routine lasts a maximum of three weeks (once it went that long) so that's what I like!

Thinking of you all and wish you God's blessing wherever you are!
