This week has been full of teaching and preparing for teaching. I have been working 10-13 hour days in order to get everything finished. What a busy summer. This is because we are teaching intensives. Only one more week of that to go.
The kids I teach for kindy are really cute and it is hard to often remember that they are only 4 years old Canadian age. They are so young and yet their language is so advanced and their attention level is so advanced as well.
Friday was a holiday here. It was Korean Independence day. I spent a good part of the day taking out the little braids in my friend Jennell's hair. IT went faster than we thought so that was good. We then met up with some Korean friends from college and went for supper and shopping. We stayed out so late that everybody ended up coming to my house to sleep. There were four of us and it was less squishy then I thought and it was a ton of fun.
Saturday I went to a Korean wedding. It was really neat to see. We got there and signed our name, then we receive an envelope to put our money in (no gifts, only money) then we went to eat. The bride and groom are not there and you just sit where there is room. It was buffet style and I was so conscious of how I looked eating with chopsticks because everything was so fancy and hard to eat. I didn't eat half my plate because I didn't want to drop the food. I was the only Caucasian there and stood out so everybody wanted to see how I could eat with chopsticks!
After eating we went up stairs to where the bride was taking pictures and we took pictures with her. We then went downstairs for the ceremony. It was beautiful, I think. It was all in Korean, but people laughed a lot! Then she took pictures with family and friends again. Quite neat to see how it went.
I was told that in most weddings here you eat after the ceremony so that is the same as here.
The ceremony was a bit different. They did not kiss, but had to hug three different ways. That is tradition. They also present themselves to the parents hand have to bow to them. quite neat.
Later in the day they do traditional Korean wedding stuff where they have to change clothes many times and take tons of pictures.
Saturday evening I got a phone call from my supervisor. She let me know that there had been an accident and one of my co-workers from England passed away.
So I am meeting the other teachers today. There are not many who are Christians. I ask for your prayers in supporting them and showing them God's love. Please pray for them to see God and for me to be an example to them. It is so sad.
This week we will have to cover extra shifts as another of the co-teachers was really good friends with him (they both lived in the same apartment) and he is struggling with this.
Sorry, to leave on a sad note, I just want to impress the importance of witnessing to non believers. I have felt it strongly this week, and fail time and again. Let us remember the joy we have in God and share that with others around us, even if we are uncomfortable.
God bless! Lots of Love!!!!

Hi Krista
It sounds like you are realy busy and on the go. I don't know where you find the energy. Why are you teaching intensive now? what does that mean?
Take care
Aunt Agnes
Intensives are extra courses that we teach during the kids summer holidays. Did I say holidays? I meant that they have off of regular school and thus most of them go to English school, partly because their parents are working and can't take off and partly because they study so much:) I am glad they are finished now.
